The Sikhism Home Page
http://www.sikhs.org/ Launched in 1994, and currently maintained by Sandeep Singh Brar, the Sikhism Home Page claims to be the world's first web site on Sikhism. It features a topical arrangement, and boasts a well-developed set of resources that include audible prayers, a glossary, essays, and a recommended reading list. I tested their links page, and I would be remiss if I did not mention that several are broken. Still, there is some excellent content here.
Spiritual Figures: The Gurus:
http://www.sikhs.org/10gurus.htm This is one of the resources available at the aforementioned Sikhism Home Page. In general, the word "Guru" is a Sanskrit word meaning teacher, honored person, religious person or saint. For Sikhs, Guru refers to the "descent of divine guidance to mankind provided through ten Enlightened Masters." As such, the term is applied only to the ten men who founded the religion starting with Guru Nanak in 1469 and ending with Guru Gobind Singh in 1708; thereafter it refers to the Sikh Holy Scriptures the Guru Granth Sahib.
